Combo is iRobot's first mop-and-vacuum robot, and is the most stylish model from the company. The top of the machine is brushed aluminum, and the iRobot Logo are more elegant than the loud designs of rivals.

It's not a mop.

The Combo Irobot is a clever mopping robot that combines all the smarts of the great Roomba j7+ and adds an on-board water reservoir, a tiny mopping pad, and a clever Robot Vacuum Mops arm that lifts and lowers the pad. It can accomplish many tasks in 111 minutes before running out of juice and returning to its base station for recharge.

It does a great job of vacuuming, and has no problem crossing over large area rugs or transition strips between flooring surfaces. It can even pick up dust particles that robotic vacuums fail to pick up. It's not great in mowing. It won't remove dried milk stains unless you do it four or five times.

iRobot's dedicated Braava Jet M6 mopping robot, that is available in combination with the J7 Plus often for less than the combo Combo is much more effective in this, and other difficult tasks. It can even suck up ketchup and wine spills however I'd recommend against using it in the presence of liquid with a high sugar content.

It's a vacuum

It's one of the more attractive robot vacuums. The top part is smooth and doesn't show fingerprints or dust as easily as some of its competitors. Its tiny combo water tank and dustbin are easy to close and open, although they're not the most efficient in terms of capacity. The Combo J7+ comes with all the smarts that you'd expect from iRobot. This includes map and obstacle avoidance maps that function efficiently and quickly. But it's mopping arms that makes this a standout model in its category. The mop pad is placed on top of the robot vacuum. When it detects a surface which requires mopping the pad is dropped under and behind the robot vacuum. This is a major improvement over other robot vacuums that require you to manually remove the mop pad to clean carpets and hard floors, or even turn the whole unit off to mop.

It's an electric charging station

Place your Combo Irobot on the changing station and align the metal contacts on the base. The charging station is reliable and is simple to set up. In my tests it took about a couple of minutes for the robot's to start charging and make a sound when it was completed. Once the Combo iRobot is charged, you can begin an exploration run within the app to help it better understand your home. You can also mark certain objects such as lamp cords as permanent avoidances within the app. You can also connect Alexa or Google Assistant to your robot to allow voice commands for it to navigate around the house.

It's a smart device
